Consular Services of the Embassy:
The embassy provides extensive consular services to the Bangladeshi nationals living in Italy . Issuing new passport, renewal of passports, endorsement, issuing certificates etc. and other consular services are being provided by the embassy to cater the need of the Bangladeshi community.
General guideline for getting consular services from the embassy:
The embassy provides consular services based on authentic papers/documents or certificates issued by the competent authorities in Bangladesh . Here, two very important points needs to be noted down:

The Embassy issues new passports to Bangladeshi nationals who can prove his/her nationality in two categories:
REPLACEMENT OF OLD PASSPORT:
Those who already have a passport and it is going to expire its ten years term or already expired (10 years) can apply to the Embassy for a new passport. The applicant has to fill in a prescribed form submit it along with 4 copies photographs and the old passport. The existing passport (old) has to be submitted with the application. The holder of the passport need not to come to the embassy for interview, his representative can submit the application.
If the pages of a valid passport are exhausted, the holder can apply for a new passport following the same procedure mentioned above.
If the passport is somehow considered damaged, the holder of the passport can have a new passport by surrendering the damaged passport and following the same procedure mentioned above. In such cases, the holder of the passport needs to be appeared before the consular officer of the embassy.
FEE FOR NEW PASSPORT:
1. URGENT DELEVERY ( within 72 hours) : EURO 158
2. ORDINARY DELEVERY ( 15- 21 days) : EURO 105
NEW PASSPORT AGAINST LOST ONE:
THOSE BANGLADESHI NATIONALS WHO ARE RESIDING IN ITALY:
If the passport of some one residing in Italy is lost, the holder of the passport can apply for a new one. He/she has to submit a police report on the lost passport along with, photocopy of the lost passport, duly filled in prescribed application form( same form applicable for new passport) and 4 photographs. In the absence of the police report the Embassy is unable to issue a new passport. The person concerned must appear before the consular officer for an interview. He/she may require to present documents in support of his or her nationality.
If the passport (lost) was issued by this embassy, passport particulars will be verified with records kept in the embassy. New passport will be issued only after proper verification.
If the passport (lost) was not issued by this embassy, rather issued by the Department of Immigration and Passport in Bangladesh or by a Bangladeshi embassy in another country, the application for new passport will be sent to the issuing authority for verification. New passport will be issued only after proper verification.
FEE: No urgent delivery
ORDINARY DELEVERY ( 15- 21 days) : EURO 105
Those who lose their passport while traveling to Italy
If someone has lost his/her passport in Italy or on his way to Italy and applies to the embassy for the first time for a passport, can do so by appearing physically before the consular officer. In this case he/she must face an interview with the consular officer.
The person concerned has to fill in prescribed application forms in quadruple (4 copies of the same form) and submit the forms along with 6 photographs & preferably with the photocopy of the old passport. He/she needs to produce copy of S.S.C certificate/ copy of a valid document to support his/her claim of date of birth. The applicant must submit a nationality certificate issued by the comepetent Bangladesh authorities and authenticated by notary public.
The Embassy will refer all such cases to the Department of Immigration and Passport in Dhaka for prior verification and upon receiving their approval issue new passport. However, if the approval from Dhaka is not received with in 3 months, the embassy may consider receiving the fee for issuing a new passport for limited period pending approval from Dhaka considering the special need and urgency of the applicant.
.NB: For new passports the form must be filled in completely. The Embassy rejects incomplete application forms. Special care should be taken in filling in name, father and mother’s name, date of birth and specially the number & particulars of the holder’s earlier passport.
NEW PASSPORT FOR CHILD:
A child could remain endorsed in his/her mother’s passport up to the age of maximum 12 years. In specific cases, based on real need, the embassy may consider issuing a passport to a child before he/she is 12. In such cases, photographs of parents need to be submitted with the application. Passport of the mother (also that of the father if the child is endorsed in his passport simultaneously) needs to be submitted for deletion of the child’s particulars.
4 photographs ( including 2 stamp size) along with prescribed signed by the child/with finger impression need to be submitted.

TRAVEL PERMIT:
The Embassy issues one-way travel permit to those Bangladeshi nationals who have lost their passport abroad and would like to go back to Bangladesh. The applicant must appear before the consular officer for interview, has to fill in a prescribed form and submit it with four photographs.
FEE: EURO 32
The Embassy renews/extends validity of passports without interviewing the holder of the passport. He/she or his/her representative can submit the passport for renewal.
If the passport submitted for renewal was issued by this embassy, passport particulars will be verified with records kept in the embassy and renewal will be done within stipulated time.
If the passport submitted for renewal was not issued by this embassy, but issued by a Bangladeshi embassy in another country, the application for renewal will be sent to the issuing authority for verification and the passport will be renewed only after proper verification.
FEE:
1. URGENT DELEVERY : EURO 32 per year, EURO 160 for 5 years
2. ORDINARY DELEVERY : EURO 21 per year, EURO 105 for 5 years
CHILD ENDORSEMENT:Name, photograph and particulars of new born child ( only born in Italy) are endorsed in the mother’s Passport. In this case, the child’s photograph (three copies), birth certificate issued by the Comune/Hospital along with mother’s passport are required to be submitted to the embassy. It is not necessary for the child or mother to come to the embassy. Special care must be taken that the birth certificates issued by the Italian authorities have the child’s parents name included.
A child could remain endorsed in his/her mother’s passport up to the age of maximum 12 years. After that, separate passport must be issued for the child. Particulars of the child will be deleted from the mother’s passport and therefore mother’s passport needs to be submitted along with the application.
Name & particulars of a child could be endorsed in his/her father’s passport with written & expressed consent of the mother.
ENDORSEMENT OF RECENT PHOTOGRAPH: Recent photograph of a child (already endorsed to the mother’s passport) or a holder of a passport could be endorsed.
ENDORSEMENT/ CORRECTION OF NAME: In case of inadvertent error in the name of a holder of a passport, necessary corrections could be imparted if he/she produces any of the following documents:
a. S.S.C certificate (original) authenticated by the Consular Officer of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dhaka.
b. Affidavit from the court of First Class Magistrate, authenticated by the Consular Officer of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dhaka.
Please note that only correction in name could be done, the name can’t be replaced by another name.
ENDORSEMENT/ CORRECTION OF DATE OF BIRTH: In case of inadvertent error in the date of birth, necessary corrections could be imparted if he/she produces any of the following documents:
a. S.S.C certificate (original) authenticated by the Consular Officer of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dhaka.
b. Affidavit ( by the concerned person/ parents) in the court of First Class Magistrate, authenticated by the Consular Officer of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dhaka.
c. Original birth registration certificate/ extract of the birth register authenticated by the Consular Officer of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dhaka.

1. URGENT DELEVERY ( within 24 hours) : EURO 79
2. ORDINARY DELEVERY : EURO 42
The embassy issues different types of certificates in Italian language based on requirement/merit of the case:
1. NATIONALITY CERTIFICATE: It is issued based on the particulars contained in the passport. To get a nationality certificate, one must produce his/her passport to the embassy. Photocopy of the passport will not be accepted for this purpose.
2. BIRTH CERTIFICATE: This certificate is issued on the basis of date & place of birth mentioned in the SSC certificate. In absence of SSC certificate, particulars mentioned in the passport will be considered as the basis. The embassy accepts birth registration certificate/extract of register of birth issued by the competent authority in Bangladesh provided these are authenticated by the Consular Officer of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dhaka.
1. MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE: Original Nikahnama attested by the Consular Officer of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the passport of the person concerned are required to be submitted. It may be noted here that, as per existing law, the age of the Bridegroom must not be less than 21 on the date of marriage and that of the bride must not be lass than 18. One set of photocopy of Nikahnama needs to be submitted for the record of the Embassy.
2. UNMARRIED CERTIFICATE/NULLA OSTA: An unmarried certificate/nulla osta is issued only on the basis of unmarried certificate issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs and authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (in original). No other document is considered valid for this purpose. The passport of the person concerned needs to be submitted along with aforementioned document. One set of photocopy of these entire document needs to be submitted for the record of the Embassy.
3. DIVORCE CERTIFICATE/NULLA OSTA: This certificate/nulla osta is issued only on the basis of such certificate issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs or Divorce certificate issued by the Marriage Register and these documents must be authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dhaka (in original). No other document is considered valid for this purpose. and the passport of the person concerned. The passport of the person concerned needs to be submitted long with aforementioned document. One set of photocopy of all these document needs to be submitted for the record of the Embassy.
4. FAMILY CERTIFICATE: Original Nikahnama attested by the Consular Officer of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dhaka and the passport of the person concerned are required to be submitted. Original birth registration certificate/extract of the register of birth issued by the competent authority in Bangladesh and authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dhaka should also be submitted. One set of photocopy of all these document needs to be submitted for the record of the Embassy.
Beside these certificates, the embassy issues other certificates as required by the local authority.

ATTESTATION OF DOCUMENTS ISSUED BY AUTHORITIES IN BANGLADESH:
Any documents/certificate that is to be attested by the embassy must have authentication/attestation by the Consular section of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka. Without prior authentication of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it will not be possible for the embassy to attest such documents.
Attestation of educational certificate/Relevant certificate:
If Educational certificates are to be attested by the embassy, they must have prior authentication both by the concerned University/Educational Institution/Board and the Consular section of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka. Without having prior authentication, no certificate will be considered valid for attestation.
Attestation of Legal Instruments/ Documents:
Legal instruments to be executed in Bangladesh like Power of Attorney/Authorization, Affidavit etc must be signed before the consular officer of the embassy. Concerned person must bring the passport to prove his identity. One set of photocopy of the document and copy of the fist few pages of the passport need to be submitted for record of the Embassy.
