The newly appointed Bangladesh Ambassador to Italy His Excellency Mr. Masud Bin Momen presented his credentials on 26 September 2008 to the President of the Republic of Italy Mr. Giorgio Napolitano at historic Quirinale Palace. During an exclusive meeting following the credentials, Bangladesh Ambassador briefed Italian President about the various initiatives taken by the present Government towards holding a free and fair election by December 2008.. He also highlighted Bangladesh’s achievements in socio-economic areas in recent years. Italian President hoped that the initiatives of the Caretaker Government including holding of the next Parliamentary elections on 18 December 2008 would further strengthen democratic process in Bangladesh. President Napolitano also praised Bangladesh for the religious harmony prevailing in the country and termed Bangladesh a role model as a moderate Muslim country. The Italian President appreciated the useful contribution of the expatriate Bangladeshis in Italy.
